Difficulty: Very Easy

Week 6, themed “Future Chef,” invites budding culinary artists entering 2nd grade and above to explore the intersection of food and art through a delectable array of projects. Here’s a taste of what’s cooking:

  • Chip and Dip Plate and Bowl Set/Mini Dessert Stand: Campers will craft versatile ceramic pieces that are as functional as they are stylish. This piece is designed to serve 2 purposes! Flip it one way to use as a chip and dip plate, turn it the other and place your favorite sweet treats on it!
  • Paint an Apron: Campers will don their chef hats and aprons as they unleash their inner artists on fabric canvases. A week for budding creative chef’s wouldn’t be complete without an apron! They’ll decorate aprons with playful designs, witty slogans, and culinary-inspired motifs, transforming everyday kitchen attire into wearable works of art.
  • Fused Glass Charcuterie Board: Campers will create miniature charcuterie boards fit for a gourmet feast. Using glass pieces and mosaic techniques, they’ll design and assemble intricate patterns and arrangements, creating elegant serving platters for cheese, meats, and other delectable delights.
  • Much more! Every week of camp at The Ceramic Studio Etc. offers young artists an opportunity to explore many art mediums including clay, glass fusing, acrylics and watercolor. The above mentioned projects are just a few of the projects we’ll complete in this music inspired week.

Throughout the week, campers will not only explore their creativity but also learn about culinary arts, design principles, and the joy of sharing food with others. “Future Chef” is a week-long culinary adventure where every project is a recipe for artistic success.

Summer Camp: The Basics

The Ceramic Studio Etc strives to provide a fun and explorative art experience for budding artists! Our fun and creative camp staff will inspire artists to draw, paint, squish and splatter their way to a masterpiece each day. Campers will work in a variety of art mediums each week, exploring: clay hand building techniques, fused glass introduction, ceramic painting techniques and art journaling. Depending on the theme for the week we may also sprinkle in: canvas painting with acrylics, watercolor painting, board art, mixed media collage, metal tooling, alcohol inks and more!

Every week has a minimum of 6 completed projects to take home, some of which may need to be picked up the following week after firing. Campers can also choose to leave all of their projects with us for our Tuesday Art Show! Every Tuesday evening from 5-6:30 pm, we will have a mini art show where campers can show off their mini-gallery of completed projects with their friends and family! Should you be unable to attend the Tuesday Art Show, we will hold camper projects for a maximum of 30 days, please make arrangements to pick up all completed projects within that time frame.

Who: Unless specified in the camp description above, all camps are appropriate for artists entering 2nd grade and above, keeping in mind that camp is a drop off event and parents do not stay on site for the camp day. We understand that every child is different, and may be mature for their age. However, our camps are geared to the ages specified (meaning it may be difficult to make some or most of the projects without more staff assistance). Please respect our age requirements, as they are set to ensure every camper can have a great camp experience. Our daily open drop in hours are perfect for younger artists to create with adult assistance and our story times are great for the youngest artists.

When: Camp runs Monday-Thursday from 9am to 12pm, and we ask that you arrive around 11:45am for pick up since artists often want to show you there work before they leave for the day. Artists are welcome to check-in starting at 8:50am and will need to be picked up no later than 12pm. There is a $1/minute fee for late pick up. Please text 810-623-4887 to let us know if you are running late, as we often can’t get to the studio phone during camp.

What to bring/wear: Art camp can be messy!  We encourage artists to wear comfortable clothes that are ok to get stained or bring a smock t-shirt for when we use non-washable materials.  A water bottle and snack labeled with artist’s name is also necessary, we do take time for snack each day.

Cost: is $199 per artist, which includes all materials, firing of projects and Tuesday night Art Shows.

Cancellation policy is as follows: Cancel 2 weeks or more in advance – full refund minus credit card processing fees (currently 6%, we are charged for the both the original transaction and the refund transaction). Cancel inside of two weeks – 50% refund. You may sell or transfer your week to another artist, but in this case, please call the studio so we can gather information for the new attendee.  Need to transfer to a different week of camp?  With at least 2 weeks notice, we are happy to transfer you to another week free of charge.
